Every Classic Car has a story

"1969 Pontiac GTO" with 400cu bored 30 over Ram 3 Cam Shaft and Edelebrook Performer intake and Demon Carb. When I bought this car back in 1969 my wife ask me was I crazy for buying this, wonder what she would say today if she was alive now with the shape it's still in. The story to tell during the first year I had this car and was out driving it downtown on the strip, I stop at a red light and a policeman pull up next to me and asked me did I want to race it to the red light. The next red light was about a quarter of a mile. I said sure why not, I always wanted to race a Dodge Cornet I was thinking to myself. The light change and off I went, burning rubber, leaving smoke behind in his face and the way I went and stop at the next red light as the winner. All the sudden here he comes up with his red lights on. Gets out of his car and said hey man are you crazy, I didn't mean did you wanna race me to the next red light on this street. So he wrote up the ticket and said once again did I wanna race this car and hear me good I mean race it at the next red light, which was a popular track on the outside of town where all the studs thought they had the fastest cars in town.

My first admirer and crush was when I was ten, was this girl no wanted to be around with, she was big and not to attracted, but later on in life she turned out to be a model and one of the most beautiful women you would ever met, I did married her and we were happy for 20 years until she passed away.

RE: First Admirer

Actually good memory oldstuff, I was looking up the bio of Marilyn Monroe: born Norma Jeane Mortenson; June 1, 1926 – die August 5, 1962), in 1946 she would had been 20 years old. I love the movie she play in "Some Like It Hot", very beautiful actress and sexy woman, to bad die at the age of 36, wo that's still young. Afrer reading more in her bio, I didn't know she was married to Joe DiMaggio.

RE: First Admirer

oldstuff, all I got to say is, you rock and thanks all for sharing those crushes and admirers, am out

Reply

RE: First Admirer

I'm not questioning your age, but that would make you about 84 or 85. Just that in 1946 MM had not made any movies -- had only done some inconsequential modeling while her husband was away during WWII. Her first movie was a small part in a not very good movie in 1947. Not even sure if she was using the name Marilyn Monroe at that point or still going by her actual name.

Reply

RE: First Admirer

oh good gracious if you want to get so technical, OK, I am 85, and yes Marilyn name was Norma Mortenson, but I use Marilyn Monroe name because figure more of the younger generation here would recognize that name instead of her real name, and did I say anything about any movies, I remember her in real life working at the Munitions Factory.

RE: First Admirer

I feel like changing my username to Incredulous. However, all things are possible, and what wonderful story that would have been telling friends and family: "I once knew Marilyn Monroe, worked with her even, before she was famous!"

Things To Think About

Good evening! I was getting ready to go out today, but it is raining so hard, so I thought that I'd stay inside and post something. I've got a lot on my mind these days and feel that I need to say it. Let me introduce myself. My name is, just call me oldstuff, I'm 85 years old, sweet, kind, generous, fun, and cute when I'm wearing by new hair piece and my new teeth I gotten. The thing is that when you get my age you start to think about the past a lot. So I would like to shared something from the past. When I was in my twenties (age) I was one of those men that was hard to get along with, very busy, stubborn, and wasn't all that fun, wasn't sweet, wasn't fun at all, was handsome oh. I can remember the time when I was fast driven, never slow down for anything or anyone. Now look at me now, I'm the other way. So my point is think now, learned slowly, have a lot of fun and be patience.

RE: Things To Think About

I am 45, I have been having the same thoughts on my past and how reckless I was as a teen and young adult. Make no mistake, I am afraid of getting old. I look very young for my age, I am very slim and handsome, I have long full hair and smooth skin, I make good money and have everything I wanted. I am still not happy, I am scared of what I see in the mirror, age. You have given me a breath of life with your post OldStuff, I need to get busy living and finally enjoy what I have.

RE: Things To Think About

thats a lovely post OldStuff (i know that i cant call u bro). kind of you to take time to pen down your thoughts :) wise as age does :) most of the teens, i was a troubled kid. study, study, study. fun was alien. little or no money at hand. always hoping that somebody will be there to fund me for what i need.

34 now, i may not be rich. but i am rich with experience. have a beautiful life and a wonderful small family. we dont have much between us. but there is loads of happiness and warmth.

you are absolutely right. life is never too complex. we make i complex. and in the process, we lose out all the small fun that life is supposed to be. i got some useful life left and with ppl like you to shed light on life, am sure i will earn some good moments all the way through when i reach ur age :)

thanks for ur post again. refreshing change :)

Not an Simple Reminder but an Exploring Thought

Everybody deserves a equal chance . And if somebody, wants to be friends with you . You should accept there friendship. You'll never know , if you and that person can really become friends . If you don't give them a chance. Have you ever heard the saying . Unlikely friends ? I love that saying ..... it could mean anything, plus it gives me hope , that people from two different worlds . Can actually become friends, some things are possible.

RE: Not an Simple Reminder but an Exploring Thought

Being in a relationship with someone leads you to become best friends. You know that person you'll call or text when something completely random or awkward happens to you. The one you go to for advice and the one you lean on when times are tough or you're having a bad day. But how about when that person is the reason you are down or not having the best of days, now what? It's tough when the person hurting you is the only one you want to comfort you. To hold you tight and let you know that it will all be okay (because it will). But sometimes we just gotta think back to how far we had made it without them before and that we can still manage to be strong without them. Put your foot down and show yourself that you got this on your own.

This is to the Girls

This is for girls who have the tendency to stay up at night listening to music that reminds them of their current situation. Who hide their fears, hurt, pain and tears under the smiles, laughs and giggles on a daily basis. The girls who wear their heart on their sleeve. The girls who pray that things will work out just once and they'll be satisfied. The girls who scream and cry to their pillows because everyone else fails to listen. The girls who have so many secrets but wont tell a soul. The girls who have mistakes and regrets as a daily moral. The girls that never win. The girls that stay up all night thinking about that one boy and hoping that he'll notice her one day. The girls who take life as it comes, to the girls who are hoping that it'll get better somewhere down the road. For the girls who love with all their heart although it always gets broken. To girls who think it's over. To real girls, to all girls: You're beautiful, stay cool, keep on smiling and love your neighbors.
